The village in the western part of the battleground was during the Battle of Austerlitz held by the 4th French Unit of Marshal Soult. It is said, that the way from the battleground through Ponėtovice to lapanice, where the army hospital was located, was marked with the blood of the wounded.
A dominant feature of the present village is above all a new Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, built in the year 2000. In the year 1992 the Billiard club Ponėtovice was established, which gained the 2nd place in the championship of the Czech Republic. It is pleasant to swim in the Grunty pond.
