On the 11th july 2008 beggins the commemorative event of the 199th anniversary of the battle of Znaim, with participation of cca 200 members of the Central European Napoleonic Society and her guests. The general aim of the event is to prepare the bicentenary for 2009, visit the places, locations for the camps, and battlefield for the main re-enactment program.
The event will start by a solemn defilé in the streets in the center of Znaim on friday evening; on saturday the troops will march through the battlefield and exercice; in the afternoon the main battle re-enactment will take place near to the village of Dobsice, with the scenario inspired by the actions of the bavarian division Minucci (Wrede) against the austrian grenadiers. On sunday a second battle will take place in the attractive place of the Klosterbrück monastery (Louka), interrupted by armistice.
