NATO Radar one more time - how it looks like in Austria
If you would like to see sometimes how such a radar looks like in the country and which the army claims as "almost unvisible" then go to Austria. The best way is through Hevlin - Laa an der Thaya in direction Kreunenburg via the state road B6. There are actualy two radars to see. Between the communities of Pyhra and Au there is a wooded hill (see map) where both radars are located. One of them should be of the similar type intended to be constructed on the Pratzen Heights at least regarding the copula. There is almost no housing in the wide surroundings. Of course such facilities as military radars are necessary and with no doubts useful however locations for them should be considered with regards to other values then the "benefit" for the army only. There are also famous battlefield in Austria like at Wagram or Aspern however we have not seen any radars at local monuments there...
