Project Austerlitz

In the environs of Holubice situated in the northern part of the battleground the heavy cavalry fighting took place. Situated between Holubice and Tvarožná, through the area where the highway leads, is the so called Plain of Cavaliers, where the Cavalry Division of Prince Murat fought with the Russian and Austrian Cavalry under the leadership of General Bagration and Duke Lichtenstein. One of the legends talks about the Holubice trench, which was after the battle filled in with dead bodies of soldiers and horses. Mass graves are found around Hamr’s Rock. In the village is a historical army unit of ten men, which regularly participates in the commemorative events.
