1809 – 2009

MIKULOV 2009

The Project Austerlitz prepares in co-operation with the town of Mikulov (Nikolsburg) a commemorative event for the days of 22-24 may 2009. Since 2005, when the event was held for the first time, it is every year a commemoration of the 1809 campaign, espcially of it’s final phase that touched also the region of Mikulov; and more generally of the napoleonic history of the town, where the armies passed in 1805 and in 1809,where the diplomatic negotiations in 1805 started, resulting in the signature of the Presbourg peace treaty, and where the owner of the Mikulov estate, Franz Joseph, prince of Dietrichstein, an active paticipant of the wars against the revolutionnary France is buried.

ZNOJMO-DOBŠICE 2009

The commemorative event of ZnojmoDobsice 2009 will take place on 10-12 july 2009 near Dobsice (Klein Tesswitz), in Znojmo (Znaim) and at other places of the battlefield. It will be one of the most important commemorative events in 2009, with other commemorations: Razsyn in Poland (16-18 april), Sacile in Italy (1-3 may), Eggmühl in Bavaria-Germany (10-14 june) and Bratislava in Slovakia (26-28 june); the event of Znaim-Dobsice 2009 will naturally become the finale of this chain of events, as well as the battle of Znaim was the last battle of 1809.

The two-days large battle of Znaim (10-11 july 1809) is more or less forgotten, and stands in the shade of the general battle of Wagram (5-6 july).
