Under the auspices of the 1st vice-governor of the South Moravian Region, Mr. Milan Venclik.

At the occasion of the239th anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte a festive event will take place on the battlefield of Austerlitz from 15-17 august 2008, Napoleonic Days 2008. We shall commemorate also the 195th anniversary of a lesser known historical event: in 1813 the army of general Poniatowski, unable to face the Russians and defend the Duchy of Warsaw, passed through the neutral territory of Austria to rejoin the Napoleon’s Grande Armée in Saxony. Austria authorised the passage, and at the end of may, Poniatowski’s columns were passing by Austerlitz. And it’s been in Austerlitz that the news about the french victory at Bautzen has been announced to Poniatowski and his men; they celebrated the victory, later Napoleon expressed his gratitude to Poniatowski also for commemoration of the victory of Austerlitz.

About 150-200 re-enactors will participate at the event, from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Austria

09:30 – 13:30 march towards the hill of Urbanek (wargame, maneuvres, lunch)
13:30 – 14:00 return to Austerlitz
14:00 – 14:45 austro-polish (french) maneuvres in the castle park (battle re-enactment)
14:45 – 15:00 defilé of the troops (castle park)
15:00 – 18:00 camp life of the troops at the beggining of the 19th century, individual instruction (castle park)
16:00 – 17:00 instruction and competition of the cavalry (castle park)
20:45 – 21:45 defilé of the troops through the town center with fireworks to hail the Emperor Napoleon
