Napoleonic Days 2011

The re-enactment groups (about 150 soldiers of the french, austrian and russian army)  will arrive to Austerlitz on friday (12th august) to build their camps in the park of the Austerlitz château. On saturday they will do maneuvers and exercises in the park, and a re-enactment battle in the afternoon. A second battle will take place on sunday morning.
This year the Napoleonic Days will aim especially common maneuvers of the french and austrian units, the preparation for the bicentenary of the Russian 1812 campaign that will be commemorated next year in Russia (big events in Smolensk and Borodino announced). The austrian auxilliary corps under the command of prince Schwarzenberg marched into Russia side by side with the French. The visitors of the event may appreciate the exercice and tactics of the infantry, the artillery and the cavalry.
On saturday, the traditional Napoleon Golf Cup will be held at the Austerlitz golf course; and the wine competition Grand Prix Austerlitz, at the courtyard of the castle. In the evening, a parade and fireworks with music will commemorate the 242nd anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte.
